The AIHA Guideline Foundation is documenting OEHS Standards of Care (SOC).  These SOCs provide a vision for all OEHS professionals of the essential practices that have been determined by experts to ensure strong foundational risk management programs that deliver a baseline level of protection for the people under their care. The intent is to elevate the performance of all OEHS programs by providing a set of uniform program and performance targets that can be used in continuous improvement activities by practitioners and the OEHS profession.

This presentation will provide participants with an understanding of the SOC initiative and its importance to their professional OEHS practice by exploring in some detail the first SOC: Occupational Exposure Assessment.

SPEAKER BIO:

John Mulhausen Ph.D., CIH, CSP, retired in 2018 from 3M where he worked for 31 years in a variety of global health and safety risk management roles, most recently as Director of Corporate Safety and Industrial Hygiene. He has authored / co-authored over 100 presentations, publications, or professional development courses in forums throughout the world and contributed advice and expertise on various working committees sponsored by NIOSH, AIHA, ACGIH, and the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine. John is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota, a Fellow of the AIHA, a past President of AIHA, and a recipient of ABIH’s Lifetime Achievement Award, AIHA’s Edward J. Baier Technical Achievement Award, and AIHA’s Henry F. Smyth Award.
